Woodcircles project highlights advancements and charts next steps in London

The Woodcircles project made significant strides during a two-day meeting in London last week. Hosted by WTA Architecture and Design Studio, the event brought together 20 partners from across Europe and the UK to share progress, align strategies, and explore innovative solutions for wood in construction.

The meeting featured discussions on key project areas, including raw materials, new construction design, digitalization, performance validation, sustainability analysis and business development. A highlight was the Urban Forest Walking Tour, showcasing four wooden buildings designed by WTA, demonstrating sustainable innovation in practice.

A co-creation workshop facilitated the development of a unified narrative for the Woodcircles pilot building demonstrators in Rotterdam, Tartu, and Torino. The project will ensure the socio-economic integration, activation, and programmatic use of the full-scale building during its testing phases in each city. Additionally, the cities will have complementary, city-specific experimentation activities to enhance the demonstrator’s implementation.
