Architect and researcher Raimondo Da Col from Waugh Thistleton Architects, a Woodcircles partner specializing in sustainable timber solutions, led the presentation. He highlighted key principles—Design for Longevity, Design for Disassembly, and Design for Reuse—that are central to creating adaptable building structures within the project.

The presentation given to professionals in the construction sector, titled “WOODCIRCLES: Soluzioni circolari per l’uso del legno” (“Woodcircles: Circular Solutions for Wood Usage”), also featured a survey conducted by Yasmine Zaki Abdelaziz, Social Innovation Officer at ICONS. The survey, titled “Improved Perception,” aimed to measure public attitudes and awareness around innovation-driven projects, and some of the questions were related with initial perceptions of recycled wood/reclaimed timber and perceived advantages of using reclaimed timber in construction.

The special seminar was organised by Antel Italia (Associazione Nazionale Tecnici degli Enti Locali). SAIE Bologna, is a unique platform dedicated to showcasing sustainable innovations and sector trends. Highlights included the presentation of Federcostruzioni’s report, confirming a robust industry with a 6.9% growth in production value in 2023 and substantial regional investments totalling €9 billion.
