The WOODCIRCLES project will participate in Restructura 2026, taking place from 12 to 14 November at Oval Lingotto Fiere in Torino, Italy. The event will provide an opportunity to discover the project’s innovative approaches to circular timber construction, explore the Woodcirlces Travelling Demonstrator and participate in interactive activities organised by consortium partners.
Dedicated to building renovation, urban regeneration and innovation in the construction sector, Restructura brings together professionals, companies, researchers and institutions to exchange knowledge and explore solutions for a more sustainable built environment.
Through its participation, WOODCIRCLES will showcase how recovered timber, innovative construction systems and design for disassembly can contribute to reducing waste, extending the life of building materials and supporting the transition towards a circular construction sector.
Discover the Woodcirlces Travelling Demonstrator
Following its first installation in Tartu, Estonia, the Woodcirlces Travelling Demonstrator is arriving in Torino for the next stage of its European journey.
Developed within the WOODCIRCLES project, the demonstrator is a full-scale modular timber structure designed to illustrate how buildings can be assembled, disassembled and reconfigured, allowing materials and components to be reused across multiple life cycles.
Designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects in collaboration with project partners, the structure combines glued laminated timber (GLT) columns and beams with cross-laminated timber (CLT) wall and floor panels, incorporating reused components and reclaimed wood.
Its modular design and reversible connections demonstrate the practical application of Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Disassembly principles, showing how buildings can be conceived as valuable material resources rather than structures destined for demolition.
At Restructura, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the demonstrator, discover the solutions developed by the consortium and learn more about the potential of circular timber construction.
The Torino installation represents another important milestone in the demonstrator’s European journey, which will continue to Rotterdam before reaching its final destination in Denmark.

Alongside the demonstrator, WOODCIRCLES consortium partners are organising dedicated activities to encourage knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement and hands-on exploration of circular construction principles.
Design the City’s Second Life
12 November 2026 | 12:00–15:30 | Oval Lingotto Fiere, Torino
Organised by Fondazione ICONS within the WOODCIRCLES project, this creative co-design workshop invites students to explore how recovered timber can be used to develop adaptable and reusable buildings.
Working in small groups, participants will be challenged to design a temporary public building for Torino, conceived to serve the city for ten years before being dismantled and transformed into a new structure with a different function.
The activity will introduce the Urban Sawmill concept, the innovative approach to recovering wood from existing buildings and transforming it into valuable construction materials.
Guided by architects and professionals involved in the project, participants will apply the principles of Design for Assembly and Disassembly to develop modular building concepts using reclaimed timber and post-and-beam structural systems.
The workshop will combine introductory presentations, a guided visit to the demonstrator and practical co-design activities, concluding with the presentation of participants’ ideas.
Participation is free, with lunch included. The workshop will be held in Italian.
From experimentation to implementation: Who is driving policy development for Circular Timber Construction?Exploring
14 November 2026 | 14:00 – 16:00 | Oval Lingotto Fiere, Torino
URBASOFIA, leading activities related to stakeholder engagement and the implementation of circular wood solutions in European pilot cities, will also organise a dedicated event during Restructura 2026.
The activity will contribute to the project’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration among local stakeholders and explore opportunities for applying circular wood solutions in urban contexts.
